O’Rourke Media Group is seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our team.  This person will work directly with each division of the Company to handle all payroll process activity.  The ideal candidate is highly organized, smart and is capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced business environment.  Great opportunity for advancement within the company.     

This is a remote position but we are only considering candidates that live in the Greater Phoenix area (Corp HQ located in Gilbert).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for 250 employees in a timely and accurate manner, utilizing our third party payroll processing company (Paychex).
  • Maintain and update employee records, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates or deductions.
  • Maintains and reconciles GL mapping data in the payroll system (Paychex) and accounting systems
  • Assists with coordination of opening new state SUTA, WC, or other state accounts as necessary
  • Monitors payroll email and responds promptly to employee inquiries in a confidential, accurate, and cordial manner
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Works closely with 3rd party firms on the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs. 
  • Assists with preparing open enrollment material and supports employees with plan changes.


  • This position requires a college degree.
  • 3-5 years of experience with payroll and benefits administration, preferably in a multi-state and multi-entity environment. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet payroll deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with employees and address their payroll-related queries.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices. 
  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.


  • Eligible for medical, dental and vision benefits on the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment. 
  • Eligible to enroll in the company’s 401 (k) retirement savings on the 1st of the month after 90 days.  The company matches 50% of your contribution up to 2.5% of total compensation.  
  • 16 days of PTO plus 4-5 paid holidays.
